A Great, Low Calorie Seasoning

For only one tiny calorie per one Tablespoon, chives is one of the best choices for adding seasoning power to your weight loss plan. It also holds some mentionable health benefits.

Most of the time, when the vitamins and minerals of a particular food are discussed, those elements containing zero values are often omitted amid the discussion. However - those zero values at times can be an impressive positive.

For example, where chives are concerned, the contain zero cholesterol and zero sodium content. Both of these factors are huge and stand out as positives.

Suggestion for Use

Susan had cooked for a crowd who was attending a family even. She was asked by the person who was in charge of the function to bring several large bowls of rice. About four fifths of what she brought was eagerly consumed by the people attending the event - but when the function was over, she had quite a lot of leftover rice that she didn't want to go to waste.

She decided to prepare a Spanish style rice. This is a great method for using this leftover grain. She needed the following ingredients to prepare her recipe:

Cooked Rice
Reduced Fat Margarine
Petite Diced Tomatoes, Spanish Style Variety
Ground Chili Powder
Cilantro, Onion and Bell Pepper - all chopped

If you decide to prepare this recipe then use as much or as little of the ingredients as you wish as it's based solely on personal preferences. Susan took four Tablespoons of the reduced fat margarine and melted it in a large, deep pot. She then added the chopped vegetables and cooked them for about five minutes on low heat.

Next, she added enough rice so that the margarine coated the grains. Then she added the chili powder and the diced tomatoes. After heating, she decided to also add some salt as well as cracked black pepper - and some lean chopped chicken. This one meal dish was a big hit at the family dinner table that evening.
