In the Mood for Mexican FoodHave you ever been in a mood for a special type of food and nothing but that will do? For myself, whenever I'm in the mood for Mexican food recipes, I always think about cheese enchiladas - but alas, they are very high in fat and calories so I put on the brakes. However, there are ways where I can watch my caloric intake and still keep my recommended healthy weight in check. Many restaurant style cheese enchiladas contain about 300 to 600 kcals each. So when I'm in the mood I visit the one where I know those values (350 per cheese enchilada) and I add a nice salad mix to my meal plate along with a serving of Mexican style rice. Chili's serves Fajitas on their men - and based on caloric values alone, the best choice is the skillet of Classic Chicken Fajitas for about 330 kcals and only 11 total fat grams. Beware of adding additional foods to the meal - specifically sour cream, avocado-based toppings and shredded cheese as the energy values will spike significantly. One boat of Chili's fixings contains close to 250 kcals and almost 20 grams of total fat. That's upping the entree to over 500 kcals which is pushing the envelop for a weight loss plan. Don't forget that you'll need to add the flour tortillas to your meal or you'll be enjoying just the Fajita fixings. One tortilla contains about 135 kcals - so beware of such.
As to the Steak & Portabella entree and the Mushroom Jack Fajitas - these are both too fatty for a weight loss plan. In addition, the Citrus Fire Chicken & Shrimp version is prepared with shellfish - but that doesn't equal a reduced caloric content. The same applies to other foods - such as salad which is commonly assumed to hold few calories. This is why it is so important to know the kcal values of the foods that you intend to order - before you do such.
