The following foods are based on one ounce servings unless otherwise indicated. It's unfortunate, but the following dairy products are void of dietary fiber content based on single serving sizes.

Cheese in particular is very rich in calcium content as are the following dairy foods: yogurt, milk, cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream.

When reduced fat varieties are made part of the meal plate or snack time, they make excellent choices for the dieters and fat grams and caloric values are kept at a minimum.

Another perk for dieters involving the reduced fat dairy products is that they generally contain more calcium benefits than their full-blown peers.

This isn't always the case, but occurs more often than not.

This Food Group offers an excellent opportunity for pairing other Food Groups. Fruit can be added to yogurt as well as serve as a nice food for dipping into reduced fat sour cream and cream cheese.

Many fruit selections go very well with cottage cheese. And many of the following foods go hand in hand with foods from the Grain Group.

While the Dairy Food Group is lacking in dietary fiber - these values can be accommodated by pairing them with other groups housed within the American Food Pyramid.
