Simple, easy, fun recipes.
These are two of our favorite recipes that have been created in Diet Bites humble kitchen.
Be aware that cheese sticks, including string cheese, can present dangers for small children and can be a choking hazard. Therefore, skip the Cheesy Breadstick recipe when small children are part of the meal.
Purchase the canned breadsticks in the dairy section at your local market. Wrap the dough around 1/2 stick of string cheese (cut the cheese in half, lengthwise). Seal dough edges.
Spray with butter flavored cooking spray, then sprinkle on dried or fresh crushed basil.
Bake as directed on package and serve with your favorite marinara sauce. Be sure to warm the sauce before serving. As soon as the breadsticks are removed from the oven, sprinkle on a bit of parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy 2.
You will need the following ingredients to prepare our Tomato Basil Soup:
1 small can of diced petite tomatoes
1 small can of chicken broth
1 cup of skim milk (or use Half & Half for a richer soup, but beware of the calorie count)
Dried Basil

Simply combine and heat the above ingredients. Enjoy 2 cups of the Tomato Basil Soup. Sprinkle with a serving of croutons if desired.
Enjoy a side salad of mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber and carrot with your meal. Be sure to use low calorie, light salad dressing or opt for balsamic vinegar. We allowed about 100 calories for the salad, so be sure to monitor your salad dressing which can quickly increase calorie content.
