Free Diet Menu #10 - Spaghetti & Parmesan Cheese

Easy Diet Plan | Weight Loss Myths | Lose Weight Without Dieting | Foods in Excess

Spaghetti & Parmesan Cheese - Pasta, like cheese, is unfairly put on the Public Diet Block for ridicule when in fact, it's a healthy addition to the daily diet, particularly when it's whole grain. If you love parmesan - you'll love our low calorie spaghetti recipe.

As a note, 1 cup of pasta generally equals about 200 calories.

The Spaghetti: Prepare 1 small package according to the package directions (enough for six servings for a total of 1,200 calories). Add a teaspoon of olive oil if you wish to prevent sticking as the pasta cooks.

The Sauce: Use your favorite prepared sauce but try to stick to a recipe containing 100 calories or less per serving as this is the Calorie Base for this lower calorie recipe. Add 1 jar to the spaghetti containing no more than 600 calories.

The Cheeses: Add 400 calories of your favorite shredded cheese to the spaghetti/sauce mixture.

The Added Oomph's: Add 2 cups of sauteed sliced mushrooms and 1 cup of sauteed chopped onions. Carefully stir until combined.

Transfer to a baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Top with parmesan cheese and bake until bubbly.

Makes 8 generous servings.

Also enjoy a slice of crusty bread with your meal as well as a nice side salad with light dressing. If you need help in determining calories in your salad veggies, click here.
