The Sixteen Week Summer Diet Plan

With the July 4th holiday out of the way, we've got about sixteen weeks before 'The Big Ones' hit. You know the spill.  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's.....  In just sixteen weeks you can lose forty, fifty, sixty or more pounds!

If you've got sixteen weeks that you're willing to devote to dieting, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.  Let's get busy by starting with some Weight Loss Rules that you can live with.  Because after all, weight loss rules when it comes to dieting results!

1. The Diet Promise.  Hold up your right hand and solemnly promise that you'll stick with your diet plan.

2. The Weight Loss Goals. Determine your goal weight by using either a chart from your doctor's office, or you may use the Diet Bites Weight Charts for a pattern by clicking here.  Using the appropriate chart, determine your height then choose the highest recommended weight located in the chart - no matter what your frame size. Once you reach this weight, you can determine if you need to lose more.

Weight loss is much easier when you reach attainable goals.  If the chart indicates the goal weight as 150 pounds and you are currently at 200 pounds, break down your goals into 10-pound increments, but set your first weight goal at 189 pounds.  Then 179 pounds, then 169 pounds, then 159 pounds - then 150 pounds.  This Diet Bites trick will boost your weight loss motivation.

If you weigh say....197 pounds, then you would still set your first goat at 189 pounds.  Whatever you weigh, set that first goal into the next lowest tier of numbers.  A 172 pound dieter would set their first weight loss goal at 169.

3. The Diet Snacks & Hungry Whippers. When you go to the market purchase several bags of frozen fruit as well as frozen veggies that tend to be low in calories, such as strawberries, peaches, mixed vegetables, green beans and broccoli.  Hot air popcorn is another delicious treat that you may want to put on your Diet Snack Menu.  Those 100-calorie packs of snacks may also be helpful. These babies will help you tremendously whenever the hungries hit.

For Frozen Fruit: Simply warm 1 cup OR 2 cups in the microwave, then enjoy.  If you need more sweetness, add a sprinkle of Splenda or a teaspoon of sugar.  You may also enjoy the fruits cold which tend to be particularly good during those warm summer months.

For Frozen Veggies: Simply prepare and season with salt, pepper and a splash of Parkay no-calorie butter spray.

4. The Diet Menus. There are hundreds, if not thousands of recipes at Diet Bites to help make weight loss easier.  You can start here:   Free Diet Plan 1 | Free Diet Plan 2 | Free Online Diet Plan 3 | Over 100 Free Diet Menus | Free Simple Diet Menus | Wickedly Good Diet Plan | Sweet Pea's Diet Pantry

Your doctor or nutritionist can also provide weight loss menus, but speaking from experience, these diets tend to be on the bland and boring side which unfortunately is the chief reason they often fail.

5. The Weight Loss Tips. We offer these tips that may be of help in achieving weight loss:

Determine how many calories your body requires each day and build those calories by grabbing healthy foods from the Food Pyramid.  (The Food Pyramid - Serving sizes and a picture of the official Food Pyramid. Dieting never looked so good. click to continue)

Most any food can be fit into a healthy diet.  However, if you feel that you will fall off on Binge Cliff, avoid them by running, hopping, skipping or bouncing away from them.  Keep in mind that temptation isn't ugly; it's beautiful and therefore even harder to resist.

Don't miss meals - and this includes breakfast and snack time.  We recommend keeping snacks at 125 calories and under, two times per day.  Breakfast might consist of 1/4 the daily calories; make lunch the biggest meal of the day and dinner, light.  A salad tossed with a bit of grilled or roasted meat and a small hunk of bread makes a filling meal.  One of Diet Bites unique sayings is, "Eat like a Prince for breakfast and a Pauper for supper."

Avoid alcohol as it tends to be high in calories, particularly the heavy spirits.

Take up an activity that you enjoy - something that you'll stick with. Need to know how many calories an activity burns? Simply click here:  Index-Activities & Calories Expended

Get adequate rest to balance activity and stress levels.  Find a hobby that you enjoy - whether it's knitting, sewing, painting, working with clay, camping or playing a musical instrument.

If have a lot of things circling in your life - such as the loss of a loved one, a personal illness, trying to quit tobacco - and so forth, this may not be the perfect time to diet so please chat with your doctor before going on any diet plan.

Once you lose the weight, don't gain it back!!

Stick with your diet plan and in sixteen weeks, you'll be attending the Halloween Ball without a pumpkin-butt.  Think about how shocked long-lost relatives and friends will be when the holidays roll around.  And what better way to begin the new year with a leaner, healthier you!

The Perfect Summer Diet -  Freshly hatched baby birds squawk from a nearby tree, poison ivy is sprouting all about us, and pappy is scraping last year's bounty from the trusty old grill - why it's no wonder why summer presents the perfect time for dieting!   continue
