Can't Stay on a Diet

We take a look at the lives of four dieters who just can't seem to stay on a diet, then suggest solutions.  

clip_black.gif The Diet Drifter - Dieter Cindy was simply fascinated with fad diets, and she was particularly fond of diets that had kicky names - such as those with beaches and celebrities.  Yes, frolicking amid the flowery titles that promised great waves of weight loss success, Dieter Cindy felt as if she could wander for hours in the Field of Diet Dreams.

The Diet Drifter Problem - Too many choices in today's world - from diets to potato chips. Dieter Cindy is like many dieters - she just can't make up her mind when it comes to choosing a diet and sticking to the game plan.  In the meanwhile, as she drifts from one fad diet to the next, the pounds pack on quickly during rest periods between diet plans.  In addition, many fad diets may cause a ripe situation for the body to put on weight after the diet is discarded - in some cases at a rapid pace.

The Diet Drifter Solution -  Dieter Cindy should experience great weight loss success by quickly choosing a healthy diet plan while frolicking away from Diet Indecision.

clip_black.gif The Diet Terminator - Dieter Brick didn't have any problem at all going on a diet.  He didn't have any problem at all getting off a diet either.  In fact, Brick often began and ended diets on the same day.  He was just fine in the morning, but when his wife's chili cheeseburger supper rolled around, his diet plan was instantly terminated.

 

The Diet Terminator Problem - Could Brick's Willpower be broken?  Damaged? Contain faulty nerve wiring?  Odds are, even if Brick's low resistant against powerfully flavorful foods is due to a lack of willpower, we'd be willing to bet that there are deeper issues weighing in the balances. Such as:

circle03_blue.gif Brick is bone-tired at the end of the day.  He simply wants something to eat, then to be able to put his feet up so he can rest for work tomorrow.

circle03_blue.gif Brick grabbed a light lunch and there hadn't been time to grab a snack during the day.  Right now, he is truly ravenous!  Who cares about dieting?

circle03_blue.gif Brick is stressed out from his long day.  Right now, it's just too much to worry about what he needs to eat AND it's so much easier to just lavish about what he wants to eat.

circle03_blue.gif Brick's wife is an award-winning cook.  How can he possibly resist something so tempting - when he knows it's going to be so good?

The Diet Terminator Solution - Dieter Brick may need a vacation to get in touch with his true needs.  Incorporating a satisfying lunch with healthy snacks during the day might also trigger weight loss results.  And Brick should have a delicate heart-to-heart with his dear wife about preparing foods that won't send Brick off the edge of his diet plan.  Healthy foods don't have to taste terrible.

clip_black.gif The Simpleton Dieter - Dieter Yolanda is drawn to diet plans that focus on one food.  They are interesting, and it doesn't take a lot of thought when it comes to meal preparation.  She had tried diet plans that focused on rice, popcorn, grapefruit and even chocolate.  However, Yolanda soon becomes either too hungry on these type diets, or bored and therefore can't stay on her diet - and in this case, that might be a good thing.

The Simpleton Dieter Problem - Although Yolanda wasn't achieving the weight loss success that she had hoped for, she just can't steer away from these types of diet plans and shift from being a One Food Dieter to a Healthy Meal Dieter.  Diets that place the focus on one food generally lack total nutrition.  The dieter often feels hungry for most of the day.  One food diets may also pose long-term health risks, and may even prove fatal in some individuals.


The Simpleton Dieter Solution - Dieter Yolanda desperately needs to become more interested in her overall level of health rather than continuing to dance through LaLa Land when it comes to her daily diet.  Rather than grabbing one food, we suggest that she grab a basket of healthy foods for her daily diet such as fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats, nuts, whole grains and skimmed dairy products.  As a Health Note skimmed dairy products are generally packed with more calcium than whole milk products.

clip_black.gif The Hot Shot Dieter - Dieter Larry enjoyed announcing to all his friends and family that he was going on a diet.  He felt that sharing his plans to lose weight with everyone would ensure that he would stick to his diet plan.  However, Larry soon slips off his diet plan.  

The Hot Shot Dieter Problem - Larry is shooting himself in the Diet Foot from the get-go.  Because he always seems to abort his diet plan, he is quickly becoming the laughing stock of the family, as well of the office where he works - the man who cried Diet Wolf.

So often we think that the entire world cares about how we look, what we say, what we do - and even though people might care about those things for a fleeting moment, they are soon forgotten.  By nature, we-humans tend to focus on OUR needs.

The Hot Shot Dieter Solution - Larry must begin to truly believe in himself rather than wanting others to believe in him.  Larry is the only one that can make weight loss happen.   The following article may be of help to the Hot Shot Dieter.
