Italian Black Bean Pasta, a Low Calorie Recipe for Weight Loss

Kiss-up to our Italian Black Bean Pasta and see the pounds melt away while you're basking in the delicious flavors of Italy - without the high fat and calories, of course.

Ingredient List, Preparation Notes for Italian Black Bean Pasta

Ingredients for this low calorie recipe:

1 small can of black beans, drained and rinsed (about 400 calories)

6 cups of prepared pasta*  (about 1,200 calories)

1/2 cup of Balsamic Vinegar

Sliced Sausage Link - 2 (We love Bistro Sensations Gouda Cheese & Apples for 130 calories. Two links contain 260 calories. Slice into thin circles.)

Cook sausage on stove top using cooking spray if needed. Add pasta and beans and heat until warm. Toss with balsamic vinegar.

Entire recipe contains about 1,875 calories. Serves 6 for about 312 calories beans

*Tom and I are Pasta Lovers, so I generally keep a sealed container of prepared pasta in our fridge. Preparation is so easy via the microwave.

Pour pasta into a deep microwave-proof bowl then add water until it rises just over the pasta.

Place into microwave.

Ours cooks a perfect pasta in 20 minutes, but of course, all microwaves cook differently. So keep a watch on your pasta the first time out.

After the pasta cooks, simply drain, add a Tablespoon of olive oil to coat pasta, then place into fridge after it cools a bit.

Ingredients for this low calorie recipe:

1 can of black beans, drained & rinsed (about 400 calories)

2 cups of prepared cubed chicken breast (about 400 calories)

4 cups of couscous, prepared as directed on box (175 calories per cup)

1 bag of prepared frozen vegetables (asparagus & broccoli work very well)

1/4 cup of honey (about 250 calories) or your favorite jam or jelly OR Chinese sauce

To prepare, combine all ingredients except the couscous and incorporate well. Serve to the side of the couscous or on top. Entire recipe contains about 1,900 calories and makes 6 very generous servings for about 315 calories each.
