Did someone say cheeseburger? No way? Not while dieting? Yes way.....

Ingredient List, Preparation Notes for Black Bean Cheeseburgers

Ingredients for this low calorie recipe:

1 small can of black beans, drained and rinsed &  whipped (about 400 calories)
1 - 3 Tablespoons of chili powder

1 teaspoon of ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder (use more if desired)

Hamburger Buns OR Grilled Portabella Mushrooms (8 buns, 100 calories each)

Mustard, Sliced Tomato, Pickles, Ketchup, Lettuce, Onions, Mozzarella Cheese Slices (50 calories per slice)

Cooking Spray

Step 1: Combine black beans, garlic powder & chili powder. Form patties with damp hands. Place into a non-stick pan sprayed with cooking spray. Cook on both sides until beans for recipe

Step 2: Top with cheese, allowing cheese to melt.

Step 3: Transfer to toasted bun. Bun can be toasted using cooking spray to save calories, or use a bit of margarine.

Or, simply heat buns in microwave - or use portabella mushrooms that have been grilled on the stove top or grill rather than bread-based buns.

Step 4: Add mustard, slices of tomato, lettuce, ketchup, pickles and onions.

Burgers contain about 425 calories each when topped with cheese.

1 small can of whole corn, drained (300 calories)

6 cups of prepared rice (instant or steamed - about 1,200 calories)

Step 1: Combine black beans, whole corn and heat. Add sauce.
