Grab the cottage cheese, fruit trays, melons, and penguin glasses for the ultimate in Diet Fun.

For even the most burly of men, it doesn't take much to bring out the kid in us. Particularly when it comes to food.  And with a heat wave that has us locked inside her clutches, it's time to go with the flow.

The following free diet menu contains approximately 1,350 calories.

The Heat Wave Diet - One Cool Free Diet Menu

Enjoy 2 slices OR 2 cups of your choice of melon throughout the day for snack time.

In addition, you'll want to prepare two special drinks as follows to enjoy with a minimum of eight cups of cool water.

Enjoy these drinks for relaxation time, with your melon at snack time, with your meals - or anytime you wish throughout the day.  And now for those two specialty drinks and the free daily diet menu. (More free diet drink recipes found here.)

1. Low Fat Recipe for Lime Chill Recipe

There's nothing quite like a little lime, When one is feeling saturnine.

So fill the glasses, if you will, And let us enjoy a Lime Chill....

This tasty Diet Bites recipe for Diet Lime Chill easy, easy, easy!  As a note, any diet lime-based soda will do, such as Diet Sprite or Diet 7-Up. 

Lime Chill, Recipe Ingredients & Preparation Notes

1 small glass of diet lime soda

1/2 cup of lime OR pineapple sherbet

2 Tablespoons of Light whipped topping

Simply pour soda in glass and top with sherbet, then whipped topping. Our sherbet contained 110 calories and our whipped topping, only 15 calories for a total calorie count of 135 calories. What a Calorie Bargain for a sweet, refreshing warm-weather treat!  

Planning a party or get-together?  Simply use 1/2 carton of sherbet to 2 liters of soda and skip the topping.

2. Cinderella's Sweet Sipper©  

Serves 1 for about 120 calories each

Cinderella's Sweet Sipper Recipe Ingredients & Preparation Notes

1 cup of ice cold skim milk

1-3 ice cubes

1-3 packets of Splenda or Equal if extra sweetness is desired

½ teaspoon of REAL Rum Extract

½ of a ripened banana

Blend until frothy.   Pour into a chilled slipper – whoops – that’s SIPPER and serve while it is ice cold.

Breakfast Diet Menu

Enjoy one 200-calorie bagel spread with light cream cheese OR a pat of butter PLUS coffee with a dash of creamer & no calorie sweetener or tea with no calorie sweetener.  You can add a bit of bling to your cream cheese with grated orange or lemon - which goes well with either cinnamon & raisin bagels or blueberry bagels.

Lunch Diet Menu

Enjoy a  cool kangaroo pocket (yes, both pockets) filled with the following mixture: 1 sealed pouch of StarKist Albacore Tuna, 1 Tablespoon of Light Miracle Whip, 1 teaspoon of golden or dark raisins, 2 cups of raw baby spinach.  Try to find kangaroos that contain 160 calories or less for both pockets.

Enjoy one small banana blended with one cup of skim milk, a dash of rum extract (or vanilla) and a spoon of Splenda if more sweetness is desired.  Blend with a couple of ice cubes until frothy.

Dinner Diet Menu

Enjoy 1/2 cup of skim cottage cheese with Pineapple Ham Roll-ups.

Ingredients for Pineapple Ham Roll-ups

3 slices of deli brown sugar ham OR honey ham (60 calories)

2 slices of American white cheese (70 calories each)

1 small can of unsweetened pineapple tidbits (do not toss out juice) MINUS 2 Tablespoons of the pineapple which you will use for the dipping sauce below

Heat ham in microwave for about 10 seconds, then top with cheese and return until melted.  Remove carefully then add pineapple.  When ham is cool enough to touch, roll each of the three ham slices into an enchilada-type roll.  Dip in the following sauce:

Ingredients for Pineapple Sauce Recipe

2 Tablespoons of pineapple tidbits
1 Tablespoon of pineapple juice
1 teaspoon of brown sugar

Mash tidbits into a mush; add juice and brown sugar and heat until warm.
