Is Your Diet Singing the Same Old Song?
by Sky Taylor, Diet Bites
Have you ever heard a song and there was nothing that you could do to get it out of your mind? Funny thing is, that 'dreaded song' may actually be on your favorite song list. You may know the lyrics so well - that you could have written it yourself. And even though the song that got into your head is driving you nuts, you may discover that it's the first song that you want to listen to when you get in the mood for music. It's a love-hate relationship. Diets can be like that too.
When Diet Time wheels around and it's time to peel off a few pounds, most individuals turn on the same old diet song. A bit of tuna here, a bunch of eggs there - lots of carrots, celery, cucumbers and grapefruit, too. By the time that Day Three of the same-old, same-old diet rolls around - the dieter is about ready to pull the tonsils clean out of that low calorie head of cauliflower.
So before venturing out on that same old diet - set out with intentions of making your daily diet special. Although a ruby red grapefruit can be sexy to the palate, so can a serving of ruby red cherries. A few dieting tips that can add a splash of special to your daily diet are:
- Don't get stuck on white bread. Mix it up by adding different varieties to your daily diet. Rye, pumpernickel, Sourdough - and breads pumped with tasty grains and dried fruits make exceptional choices and will often cure a boring diet.
- Jack up salads with dried fruits, seeds & nuts.
- When enjoying cooked carrots, yams, sweet potatoes, pumpkin & winter squash try adding a dash of cinnamon, a spoon of honey (or sugar or brown sugar or sugar substitute), a splash of no calorie butter spray and a bit of marshmallow. Yummers!
- If you enjoy beets, okra, eggs and so forth, mix up those tastes by getting pickled. Your local market most likely carries prepared versions of pickled foods.
- Dolly up skim milk by blending it with frozen fruits. Add a touch of sugar or substitute sugar and a dash of vanilla extract and you've got a ticket to Diet Heaven.
In Summary
Always carry a song in your heart and a daily diet plan in your head. Mixing your diet up equals a more pleasurable weight loss experience.
