Are You Really Ready to Lose Weight?

It's hard to accept but there are times when dieting can be worse for the body than being overweight - even when a reasonable diet plan is in place. Here's why:

Losing weight is great BUT when one isn't ready to diet, they are apt to halt their diet before it gets off the ground and in turn pack the lost pounds back on very swiftly PLUS more pounds. It's the old 'pounds on top of pounds' situation.

Dieting before one is ready to diet can also lead to Yo Yo dieting. In the event of Yo Yo dieting, the body is under constant strain, desperately trying to balance the ever-revolving weight loads.

Dieting during or before impending celebrations and life-changing events can set the stage for Diet Failure and may not be the best time to start a diet.

So when is one really ready to lose weight?

Think ahead when planning a weight loss plan. Are the holidays in the near future? Life-changing situations such as college, a new family member, a wedding or a visit from the old cranky mother-in-law? If so, how confident do you feel in staying on your weight loss plan? Are you concerned about the holidays uprooting your Diet Game Plan? A vacation? If not - full steam ahead. If so, plan according to ensure Weight Loss Success.

A small test may help determine if you are ready to drop those extra pounds. For one day, see if you can achieve the following:

- Single servings at meal time, fruits for snack time, water as your main beverage, and nothing to eat after dinner time. Try to enjoy a 10 minute walk if possible. How did you do? Do you think that you could stick with this routine until the weight is gone? Keep in mind that to lose weight, you may have to significantly reduce the calories consumed during your 'test' day.

In Summary

The key to successful weight loss is sticking with a diet plan. A spontaneous weight loss plan is often mined with holes. Taking time to reflect on past diet mistakes, as well as what the near-future holds can help you unlock the door to Weight Loss Success!
