Weight Gain, Weight Loss & the Mood Swing
by Sky Taylor, Diet Bites
If you stop and think about it, if you are currently on a diet OR have ever been on a diet, your mood is what probably got you there in the first place.
The Mood Swing is one of the busiest swings on the planet. We get in the mood to lose weight. We get in the mood to eat comfort foods. We get in the mood to love, to laugh, to cry, to feel sorry for ourselves. We get in the mood to buy thing, to do something wonderful for someone in need, to be a better person.
And we get in the mood to quit our diet. Yes, this might be a bitter pill to swallow, but it's true. And the Mood Swing gets to vibrating and swinging so high at this phase that it often tosses the dieter miles away - so far away that they do not return to the 'Mood to Diet' for a long, long, long time to come. And when and if they do, the "I Want to Diet Mood Swing" is generally covered in cobwebs.
But the Mood Swing isn't always bad. For example, it can be very useful to us during a Weight Loss Phase if we pay close attention to the direction it is swinging. And what we learn can actually help us achieve permanent weight loss. Some of the things to be on the lookout for include:
Are we in the mood for something sweet?
Are we in the mood for something sour?
Are we in the mood for something salty?
Satisfying these moods can keep desires from turning into cravings. It is key to satisfy a mood with the healthier food or beverage option.
There is one more mood that is one of the toughest to deal with when one is dieting or not. The 'I'm not in the mood to exercise' one. But you can overcome this negative 'mood-set' by simply imagining that a slice of chocolate covered strawberry cheesecake is in front of you - just run to catch it! Now how is that for an unbeatable weight loss tip?
