Common Symptoms of Dieting - Page 2
by Sky Taylor, Diet Bites
It's important to note that dieting can indeed lead to death in those individuals where calories are restricted to such low limits that the body is unable to function, therefore shuts down.
Dieting risks can be increased in those individuals with certain health issues, such as diabetes and heart disease and in these instances, weight loss attempts should be closely monitored by a medical professional. Those individuals with hidden medical conditions, such as diabetes are also at increased risk when dieting.
In Summary
So does this mean that weight loss is so risky that an individual is better off remaining overweight? NO! Quite the contrary. Losing just a bit of weight can perform miracles - from lowering blood pressure to increasing longevity. But it sure helps to know the trials and tribulations that one might encounter in reaching that higher level of health. A few tips that may help when dieting:
- Keep calorie (energy) intake at the body's required level, as well as fluid intake.
- Get support from a doctor, dietitian or nutritionist when dieting who can closely monitor your weight loss and the impact it may be having on your body whether negative or positive.
- Cutting all sodium (salt) and fat from the daily diet might seem like a good idea, but doing such can come with great health woes.
- Use caution when exercising, particularly if you've got a lot of weight to lose and you've led a sedentary lifestyle. SLOWLY start out and work up to your fitness goals.
- Keep in mind that weight loss comes with so many health benefits. The risks involved accompany the weight loss process itself. Diet wisely - and your body will thank you profusely.
