What Do You Want Out of Your Weight Loss Plan?

Everyone diets for a different reason - but whatever the reason, everyone is always on a diet per say. Yes, all of us have a daily diet.

It may be a healthy daily diet. It may be a calorie reduction diet to spur weight loss. It may be a diet which restricts certain foods due to medical issues.

It may even be a diet full of too many calories, too many fat grams and too many health woes - but even so, it's still a daily diet.

As to weight loss diets - establishing what you want to accomplish before deciding upon a diet plan can assist you in achieving weight loss success. Woo hoo!

Begin by asking yourself the following questions. Next, review your answers and use them when creating your plan for weight loss. Make sure that your needs mirror your weight loss plan as closely as possible. For those instances when the weight loss plan is out of step with your needs, adjust accordingly. Keep in mind - a satisfied dieter is a more successful dieter.

1. Do you want to lose a little weight? Or a lot of weight?

This will greatly influence the type of weight loss plan chosen. If you have just a few pounds to lose, opting for a daily diet that contains the number of calories required to support your goal weight is one of the best (and least painful) methods for weight loss. This technique will also establish a pattern for weight maintenance once you reach your goal weight.  Calculate Daily Calorie Needs

If you have a lot of weight to lose, I would highly recommend using the same technique as above - as well as a visit to your doctor. As time marches forward, advanced medications for weight loss continue to be discovered which can make a big difference in weight loss results. Your doctor will also want to run a few tests to ensure that your weight gain isn't due to a hidden health condition such as diabetes or thyroid issues.

2. Is your main weight loss goal to establish a higher level of health?

Good for you! Doing such will not only add vim and vigor to your life, it can also add years!

3. Are you seeking to lose weight as part of a lifestyle change?  Are impending celebrations in the near future?

A most-tricky area which will require great focus. Here are a few examples where this situation may apply:

Jan is planning her wedding and wants to lose weight.

Bob just lost his beloved father to heart disease and wants to drop pounds to decrease his health risks.

Edith just had a baby and packed on too many pounds during pregnancy which she wants to lose.

Bill has decided to give up smoking and plans to also lose a few pounds.

Lora has just went through a bitter divorce and plans to drop a few pounds.

Gina is preparing to go on a cruise that she has waited for all her life. She's also on a diet.
