With a little savvy planning, Chinese food can be among the healthiest on the planet. Whole grain rice, steamed vegetables, broth-based soups - and tangy sauces that titillate both the mind and the taste buds. One of the tastiest meals that Tom and I enjoy quite often includes sauteing assorted baby vegetables with non-stick cooking spray until tender-crisp, then serving those with whole grain rice. The secret ingredient is House of Tsang sauces. The 'Szechwan Spicy Stir Fry Sauce is simply unbeatable and contains a scant 25 calories per serving. And it only take a Tablespoon to zip-up a delicious meal. Take heed however, as there are some pitfalls where Chinese dining is concerned. Fried foods, dumplings and added butter (to rice) can hold so many calories that they make a dieter tumble swiftly from even the strongest of Diet Ladders. One of my favorite restaurants in the world is PF Changs. Like all restaurants, they have menu items that are low in fat and calories, as well as high in calories. The key is knowing how many calories you are going to consume before diving in. Here is a short list of nutritional information from PF Changs, as well as links to more detailed nutrition information.
