Tryamine has been proven to contribute to elevated blood pressure and tachycardia.
Foods containing Tryamine include:
- Alcoholic Beverages
- Aged Cheese
- Over ripened fruits.
Those fruits containing the highest amounts of Tryamine include: avocados, eggplant, figs, grapes, oranges, pineapples, prunes, and raisins.
- Processed meats (including fish), cured meats, pickled meats, meat by-products, meat bullions and old meat.
- Soy related foods including soy sauce, tofu, miso, and teriyaki sauce.
- While safe in small amounts, when consumed in large amounts the following foods can trigger hypertensive-related symptoms due to tryamine content: chocolate, coconuts, and nuts - particularly brazil nuts and peanuts.
