One of the featured videos addresses the size of your beverage container. Who would think that something so simple could mean the difference between weighing a few more or a few less pounds - but this simple something can make a big difference in the numbers on your bathroom scales.

Long ago and far away - up until the 1970's, the size of one's beverage was inline with Food Pyramid recommendations. The next time that you get the opportunity to visit a museum or an antique store, look for soda bottles. Some early brands such as Squirt contained a minuscule four ounces per bottle.

As time marched forward, so did serving sizes as manufacturers discovered that the price could be increased along with the size of the container. By the 1980's consumers were had moved from eight ounce single sizing containers to sixteen ounce.

And in today's world, it is not uncommon for an individual to consume a two liter bottle of soda in one day - and at times, up to two. They are indeed addictive. And the results are not healthy - even if the soda is in diet form. Too much sugar substitute in the body may impact the immune system; the individual may experience rashes - or become more sensitive to allergens that never bothered them in the past.


And when the immune system experiences a breakdown, the body is at higher risk for infection and illness, and yes, even certain diseases.

So while you're working to keep your serving sizes down in the area of beverages - also work to get away from a plethora of sugar substitutes that you may be using throughout your day. It just makes great sense where over all health is concerned.

As to the size of your beverage container - it's easy to adjust. Simply grab your favorite drinking containers.

If you're like most individuals you have one for coffee or tea, one for milk, water or soda and another for juice. Using a measuring cup, fill with water and pour into your containers to determine the amount that each is capable of holding. You can use that information when filling the containers with fluids that contain calories.
