The abundance of these pounds has spurred the government to make a Diet Outcry in an attempt to promote better health.  

The following may contribute, effect, balance or assist the European dieter, particularly transplanted European dieters.

England's Food Sources, the Basic Daily Diet

Diet Recipe for Bread and Buttered Pudding

Recipe Ingredients:
8 Slices of Bread (60 or fewer calories per slice)
No Calorie Butter Spray
2 Tablespoons of Raisins (dark or golden)
1½ Cups of Reduced Fat Milk
1/2 Cup of Splenda (measures like table sugar variety)
Zest of 1 Small Lemon
2 Egg Yolks, 3 Egg Whites
Ground Nutmeg (optional)

How to Prepare Bread & Buttered Pudding Recipe

Spray 8 slices of low calorie bread (60 calories or less per slice) with no-calorie buttery cooking spray OR no calorie refrigerated butter spray. Arrange half the bread slices in a baking dish. Sprinkle with 2 Tablespoons of raisins (using both dark and golden raisins delivers a nice appeal). Cover with remaining bread slices.

Mix together 1 and 1/2 cups of reduced fat milk, 1/2 cup of Splenda, and the zest of one small lemon.  

In a separate bowl, whisk 2 egg yolks and three egg whites together, then add to the mild mixture. Pour the mixture over the bread.   Dust with ground nutmeg, if desired.

Bake in oven a preheated 350-degree oven for about half and hour. 

What is Bubble & Squeak?

A dish traditionally made from meat, potatoes and cabbage. Modernized, meat has been abandoned. The marriage of potatoes and cabbage will bubble and squeak as it cooks, thus its given name is quite suitable.

Diet Recipe for Bubble and Squeak

Recipe Ingredients:
1 white onion, small and diced
Cooking Spray, any variety or flavor
2 Tablespoons of Butter
3 Cups of Prepared Mashed Potatoes
1 Cup of Cooked, Chopped Green Cabbage

How to Prepare Bubble & Squeak

Dice 1 small  white onion and 'fry' in a non-stick skillet using no calorie, non-stick cooking spray (butter flavor works best) plus 2 Tablespoons of butter (yes, butter).  

Next, add 3 cups of prepared mashed potatoes and about 1 cup of cooked, chopped cabbage that has been drained from liquids, fully. Cook until golden brown.
