Which diet is best - carb dieting, fat gram counting, reducing food intake, counting calories, exercising the weight off, the raw diet - STOP!  Whew, it makes my little mind hurt just contemplating all of this.

So many dieters hop from diet to diet, thinking this diet is best - NO, this diet is best and WAIT A MINUTE - maybe this diet is best.

Let's look into the 'dieting lives' of Betty, Wilma and Jeanie. Both Betty and Wilma are debating which weight loss plan they want to try, which will be the most effective while Jeanie decides to trim calories from her daily diet, embrace a mile per day of walking at her leisure and removing any calories from her daily diet after dinner time.

Two weeks later, Betty and Wilma are still trying to decide which plan will be most effective; there is so much information to review - so many plans to choose from. In the meantime, Jeanie has lost five unwanted pounds. Simply put, the swooped down and carried off the kernel.

With this said, time is precious. Every minute, every hour, every day, week, month and year that goes by could be precious time that is used wisely in losing those extra pounds. While they may not cause you any health woes or grief today - tomorrow eventually comes to most.

As time slowly creeps along and we're dragging those extra pounds along with us, while we may have fun poking all sorts of tasty goodies into our body and washing them down with lovely beverages, it's not fun to finally reach the bend in the road and be forced to take that path by Mister Ill Health Himself. At this point, it's a lot more fun to simply keep straight on the path ahead.

Sure, all of us will eventually reach that giant multi-colored rainbow in the sky. In fact, it's probably the only times in most of our lives when we'll actually get to see a pot of gold, even if we don't get to sit in the pot - and toss the coins into the air. But until that time arrives, we can manage our daily diet so that we don't get there sooner than we should. This is one time in our lives that it's a-okay to arrive late.

Therefore, when considering a diet plan choose wisely - and be quick about making your mind up. Follow through with your weight loss plan. Remain steadfast. And in order to do such, you must indeed - choose wisely.

If you opt for a diet plan that isn't sufficient in caloric (energy) content, the plan is going to last about as long as a cartoon. So don't joke around; it's your very life that you're dealing with - as food controls much of our destiny. The selections, as well as the amount of food that we place into our daily diet can even prevent us from getting some really scary diseases - from scurvy to certain cancers to heart disease to diabetes to acid reflux and the long list continues.

While other pre-dieters are trying to make up their mind about which weight loss plan is more effective - in the meantime, the savvy dieter has wintered, summered, springed and falled their diet plan. The pre-dieters might still be hopping from decisions OR from diet plan to diet plan while the savvy dieter is hopping towards the Diet Finish Line. So be one of the smart dieters!

When choosing a diet plan, the following diet advice might ensure that you too will soon be hopping towards the Diet Finish Line:

Choose a diet plan that fits your lifestyle; if not - you'll be scampering between torn needs of your personal schedule and the weight loss plan schedule. If you find a plan that you fall in love with, then make modifications in order to meet your personal needs.

For example, Dieter Debbie prefers the diet menus of Plan A but would rather perform the activity schedule of Plan B. She should drop the activity schedule of Plan A and insert that of Plan B. Problem solved.

On this note, it's important to note that while a healthy dose of walking, playing sports and so forth is essential to good health, the chief governing factor on personal weight is the foods and beverages we choose for our daily diet. Therefore, choose a weight loss plan that incorporates moderate exercise and don't get wacky and over-do.  Too much exercise may make the weight loss plan undoable.

Finally, choose a diet plan that contains a backup plan should you ever feel like you might want to quit dieting.
