A Good Fast Food Spot for Dieters

They offer a diverse selection of foods and drinks that are low in calories and which can fit into most fat reducing plans - and we'll list our top choices below in our 1 Day Wendy's Diet Planner.

We also think that Dave's daughter Wendy is so pretty and she really does a fantastic job in the Wendy's commercials.

Our Top Choice: Chili, Low in Fat & Calories

We are particularly in love with their chili. The large container is just a few calories over 300 and keeps well in the refrigerator for the following day's meal. It's our top choice and we can't possibly say enough good things about their chili.

If you'd like to build your menus for the day around Wendy's, we can assist by making the following suggestions from their menu but a caveat that all of our choices are based on caloric values alone.

Be sure to add fruit to your day and enjoy a healthy breakfast filled with whole grain goodness. Now let's start building our menus for the day, shall we?

Lunch Menu Selections

The Chili can be enjoyed for both lunch or dinner - but there are other selections which can fit into your reducing plan.

The Junior Hamburger is a great place to start at 250 calories. It contains 10 total fat grams, 4 saturated fat grams, 0.5 Trans fat, 25 carbohydrate grams, 1 grams of dietary fiber, 15 protein grams and 620 mg of sodium. You can enjoy the Junior Cheeseburger for an additional 40 calories and three more fat grams.

If you want to make it a Cheeseburger Deluxe, you can do such for 350 calories. That is quite a nice burger for a minimal amount of calories. You get all those healthy fixings - lettuce, tomato and onion, including a pickle, too.

How do these burgers compare to Dave's Hot & Juicy 1/4 Pound Single?

This is a much larger burger and would be well-suited to dieters who work in construction who need something substantial for lunch to get them through the work day.

It contains 580 calories and 33 total fat grams - which indeed is high for dietary fat.

Watch Those Protein-Based Salads

The Apple Pecan Chicken Salad is very delicious and it's a very large salad and you'll need to share it with a friend. If you can't share with a friend - then choose something else from the menu. The salad contains 560 calories and 27 fat grams.

Do stay away from the other salads because they are too high in dietary fat to fit into your weight loss plan, even if you shared them. Those include the Spicy Chicken Caesar Salad at 770 calories and 49 grams of fat, the BLT Cobb Salad at 650 and 46 grams of fat and the Baja Salad at 730 calories and 47 total fat grams.

On the other hand, the Caesar Salad makes a very good choice for your weight loss plan at 250 calories; take note that it does contain 17 grams of total fat.

Dinner Menu Selections

The Premium Cod Fillet Sandwich is very delicious and very generous. If you plan to enjoy this for dinner or lunch, we suggest that you enjoy the Chili for your other meal in order to keep fat and calories in check.

The Premium Cod Fillet Sandwich contains 510 calories and 26 total fat grams - but it is rich in Omega 3's and with those outstanding 18 grams of protein, you're going to feel full for a long time to come.

The fish is very flaky and the breading is excellent. The sandwich by itself makes a fine meal, so enjoy with a low calorie beverage.

As a note, the fish sandwich can be trimmed in caloric and dietary fat values by going easy on the tartar sauce, or by omitting it.

The five-piece Chicken Nuggets are a good choice at 230 calories and 15 grams of total fat. They also contain 12 grams of protein which can assist in building muscles and keeping the appetite happy. Do watch the dipping sauces.

The Broccoli Cheese Potato contains 410 calories and only 10 grams of total dietary fat. And it also contains 14 grams of protein which is pretty darn impressive. It is accompanied by the reduced fat sour cream so that assists in keeping dietary fat grams low.

Best Dessert Selection

Our final suggestion is the Apple Slices at 40 calories - and guess what? They don't contain any fat grams, cholesterol sodium, or protein - but they do contain 2 dietary fiber grams which can assist in keeping the digestive system 'on track' while losing weight.
