The foods and beverages that we consume in our daily diet can either add or subtract pounds from our bodies. There is also another faction of every day life that can add or subtract pounds from our bodies - it's what we wear.

If we are already dealing with a weighty issue, we don't want clothing and accessories adding the appearance of even more pounds. We want clothing that lends a slimmer, trimmer appearance - accessories that dazzle, not frazzle!

On that note, here are a few of our best slimming tips that may lend the appearance that you've ditched a few of those unwanted pounds:

Clothing & Accessories That May Subtract Pounds

Choosing dark colors is one of the best tricks to create a thinner appearance.

Kangaroo pockets will create an illusion of thinness in the hip area.

Horizontal fabrics are slimming.

If a garment cannot be buttoned, fastened or zipped, it's best to don a vest or sweater.

There is nothing like a smile to subtract pounds!

Clothing & Accessories That May Add Pounds

Avoid bulky fashion gear, including furry objects, ruffles, fluffy fluffs, puffy sleeves, balloon legs, lopsided hemlines, and fuzzy creations which will all add bulk to the figure.

Chunky shoes will add pounds to your legs.

White hose can be worse than a rubber hose.

Clinging fabrics and velvet should be avoided like the plague.

Always remember that no matter what you weigh - you are beautiful! There is no one else like you. People tend to judge other people on appearance - but the following old saying holds much wisdom, "You can't judge a book by looking at its cover."
