Overweight? Why It's Not Your Fault

Why weight gain, being overweight and obesity is 'not your fault'.

While many weight supplement manufacturers insist that weight gain is related to hormonal imbalances, metabolism issues and gender - only a small fraction of weight gain can be connected to such conditions. So if an individual is overweight does it mean it's their fault? Diet Bites says, "Not likely". Here's our take, and some nifty weight loss tips to help get you on the road to a thinner you.

Food: Bulk vs Calorie Content

The cornerstone of Diet Bites is that food equals energy, energy equals calories. When too much energy (ie calories) is consumed, the result is the storage of fat within the fat cells. One of the chief contributors to weight gain rests highly within our body's inability to discern the amount of calories going into the body. Rather than gauging calories, our bodies gauge the amount of food that we eat - the overall bulk.

If we take a bunch of carrots and pit them against a bunch of cake (or avocado dip, cookies, full-blown cheese and so forth) we could equally consume the same amount of food based on bulk without our bodies instantly registering the fact that the carrots contain a tiny amount of calories while the cake contains enough calories to blow up the moon.

Bottom Diet Line: It's up to us to decide what foods to put into our bodies, as well as to ensure the foods won't put us over our daily calorie needs. And when/if we don't, the overload is stored in the fat cells.

Are Those Extra Pounds Due to Food Quantity or Food Quality?

Is weight gain due to the amount of food consumed, or to the type of food consumed? Both! These two elements cannot be separated without breaking the chain of Weight Management. Attention must be given to the types of foods that we eat, as well as calorie content. Any food calorie - including calories from the innocent carrot will be stored in the fat cells when it exceeds our daily calorie needs.

Knowledge is a Big Key in Weighty Issues

One of the downfalls of the current world as we know it is the lack of education in regards to weight management. Society is taught how to crunch numbers on paper but when it comes to our tummies and body, most don't know where to begin. Educating our kids on the calorie content of common foods, as well as common fast food favorites would go a long way in battling obesity.

Does This Mean I Can Run Amuck

Fat chance - no pun intended. Even if the answer was 'yes' then deep down inside, the overweight person strongly desires weight loss. This doesn't mean that keeping tabs on calorie intake is a given. No, it's actually time-consuming, takes great thought and planning and can become nerve-racking at times. But the end results are amazing!

Even those individuals who do not wish to count calories can keep weight gain at bay, while dropping a few pounds when they become committed to reading the calories on the labels of the foods consumed and doing a bit of quick addition in their head.

Please Help! Where do I go to from here?

If physical laws allowed such, I would gladly stand beside each and every overweight individual and help them lose the weight - safely! But it doesn't - and Diet Bites is the best method that I know of in reaching out and helping those in need of dropping pounds.

I suppose that my best weight loss tip is to never give up the weight loss battle. I know what it's like to be overweight - significantly overweight. And I know what it's like to achieve permanent weight loss.

If you are overweight, there may be things that are pushing those numbers up the weight scales - things like stress, financial difficulties and so forth. Losing the unwanted weight certainly won't solve all your problems, but it can take that item off of your List of Troubles.

Here are a few tips that I hope will help, but before we get to them I just want to offer you my support and encouragement to try to drop those unnecessary pounds. I know that it's tough. I know that it's hard. But the rewards are great! So begin the process - lose the weight once and for all. There's a whole new life out there waiting just for you - one with smaller clothing sizes, easier breathing, less sweating, less mental fog and overall improved health!

Get an idea of how many calories you need to consume per day. Next, either shave off a couple of hundred calories from that number to drop pounds OR simply eat your body's required number of calories. The weight WILL fall off. Here is a great page at Diet Bites to start at: Recommended Weight/Calorie Needs Index

Read those labels.

It's not all about food. Beverages can really pack on the pounds.

Eat slowly.

Get to moving and burn even more calories while achieving a stronger body.

If you don't want to count calories, then PLEASE pause and take time to count the cost on your body due to those extra pounds. Food addiction isn't cheap; medical bills aren't cheap - and cutting life short due to a body being burdened by a load it cannot support is something that can be reversed.
