Low Calorie Egg Salad Recipe
All too often the only types of salads that get allowed into our new, healthy weight loss plan are the vegetable varieties - those which contain chiefly three to five ingredients: lettuce, tomato, celery, cucumber and shredded carrot.
While this mix is indeed super low in caloric values - it can get boring, whether three, four or the full-Nellie is combined.
Protein Salads vs Vegetable Salads
So let's switch gears on that note and talk about other types of salad which are commonly banned from the weight loss plan - such as chicken and egg salads, or even a wholesome bean-based salad.
We enjoy our salads often with black beans. They make it look so beautiful and they are fun to eat. And of course, they add a healthy bite to our diet.
When prepared with healthy ingredients, both can fit nicely into the most respectable diet plan.
Let's get to cooking, shall we?
Begin by toasting a couple of slices of whole wheat bread to create our tasty egg salad sandwich which will contain our low calorie egg salad recipe.
Begin with boiled eggs - separating the white from the yolks.
The dash of mustard adds taste and color to the egg salad.
Pickle relish is optional.
This egg salad can be taken up a notch by adding pimento, sliced green or black olives or finely chopped capers.
Ingredients for this Low Calorie Recipe
3 egg whites (removed from boiled eggs & chopped or mashed with a fork)
As a note, for something different, try 'frying' a couple of egg white in a non-stick pan with butter flavored cooking spray, then place between two slices of fresh white bread that have been spread with a spoon of Miracle Whip LIGHT. Calories will vary depending upon the brand of bread used.
