Confused on How to Lose Weight

Penny is considering going on a diet but she is a bit confused as to how all this weight loss stuff works.

She suspects that once she loses her extra weight, that her body will look a lot like her best friend, Indy's. They are about the same height and frame size.

Penny suddenly hits on an idea! Obviously, thin Indy knows how to eat correctly. What if Penny mirrored Indy's daily diet?

Penny calls Indy and runs the idea by her and together they decide to embark on Penny's weight loss idea.

Will Mirroring Another Person's Daily Diet Equal Weight Loss?

Over the next week, Indy emails Penny a detailed menu, along with the serving sizes, of the foods that she plans to eat on a particular day.

At the end of the week, Penny is growing frustrated. All of this work and dedication to losing the excess fat, and she her bathroom scales haven't budged and her thighs still bulge!

Patience is a Key to Weight Loss Success

Indy encourages Penny to practice patience. Losing weight is timely, but if Penny sticks to the plan, she'll definitely lose weight.

Another week passes by and still no results. Another two weeks and Penny finally sees a drop on her scales. Whoop-de-doo. An entire half-pound.

Penny is in tears as she rings Indy. It's not going to work. Penny will never be thin. Once she reaches Indy, as they talk, they discover Penny's problem.

Have You Guessed Penny's Problem & the Solution to her Unsuccessful Dieting Attempt?

As Indy talks in detail with Penny, she verifies that Penny has been eating the same things on her daily menu.

She questions her about portion sizes.

She then questions Penny about the seasonings that may be used on the foods.  At the beginning of the diet, Indy had mentioned to Penny to freely add flavor to her foods.

Unfortunately, Penny took that to mean more than just seasonings and diet substitutes.

They soon discovered that Penny's diet was suffering from Butter Overload (BO - as defined by Diet Nanny) and Sugar Overload (SO).

Penny switched from butter to the no-calorie butter substitutes. She switched from sugar to the no calorie sweeteners. Shortly thereafter, Penny's weight began to slowly drop and soon she was a size Indy.

Moral of the Story: Never overlook the little things in life because they really do count!
