Low in calories, stellar in vitamins & minerals. Want to lose weight? Then it's time to get a little fruity.....

Fruit, Low in Calories, Superior in Nutrient Content & Supports Weight Loss & Weight Maintenance

If you're looking to lose a few unwanted pounds, then it's time to get a little fruity - with your daily diet!

There are a few exceptions as caloric values go with these fruits holding more calories than others: mangos, bananas, pineapples, plantains, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pears, cherries and apples. Even so, the calorie content is minimal at about 70-100 calories per cup.

If the fruit is dried - such as dried raisins, the caloric values spike to at times, over 200 calories per cup.

If the fruit is naturally sweeter, it's also going to contain a few more calories. A pineapple grown in the States differs in nutritional composition from the pineapple grown in Hawaii - or other areas of the world. The soil which it is grown in determines the nutritional properties of the fruit.

Feeling Fruity Blast of Dietary Fiber

One of the wonderful benefits of fruit is that you'll be giving your body a blast of dietary fiber which will in turn, help fight against constipation issues that many dieters often suffer from.

If you like blackberries or raspberries - or strawberries, if you opt for the non-seedless products or fresh fruits, you'll be consuming 8 grams of dietary fiber for each raw cup you consume.

Feeling Fruity for Weight Loss Results

Because most fruits are naturally low in calories they can assist the dieter by losing weight in a healthier manner.

It's vital to consume foods which are rich sources of vitamins and minerals - like fruits.

And foods - like most fruits - which are naturally lower in calories allows the dieter to eat more bulk, thus combating hunger pains associated with dieting.

Replacing Sweets With Naturally Sweet Foods

One grief that Diet Bites has with fruits in this day and age is that because there are so many people our food is grown based on productivity rather than flavor.

That's a shame.

Since I was a child, political masses have encouraged populating America. The world now holds so many people that it's a miracle that it doesn't spin off its axis from all the additional weight.

Therefore - if possible, try growing your own fruit at home. Plum and peach trees do remarkably well in warm climates and produce within the first early years after planting.

Strawberries and other berries are generally easy to cultivate, as are melons in warmer areas.

Your reward will be sweeter fruit kissed by nature rather than bland fruit kissed by over-use of insecticides.

Best Fruit Choices Based on Calorie Content

If you're looking for fruits which are minimal in calorie content, the following selections should give you great pleasure: plums, peaches, kiwi, all varieties of melon, strawberries, apricots, grapefruit and papaya.

Melon contains about 50 calories per chopped or cubed cup. A peach - about 50 calories.

A plum - about 30 calories. An apricot holds about 17 calories while a cup of strawberries contains 45 calories - based on whole strawberries.

Quick Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Take 1 banana and cut into chunks. Place into your blender and add 1/2 cup of low fat milk, a dash of ground cinnamon and a teaspoon of light or dark brown sugar. Add about 2 Tablespoons of crushed ice. Blend and enjoy!

Strawberry Ideas for Dieters

- When you get a nagging sweet tooth craving that won't go away, dip a few whole strawberries into dark melted chocolate. The dark chocolate holds heart healthy benefits - but don't over-do or you'll cancel-out those benefits.

- Place strawberry slices onto a slice of sponge cake. Top with a bit of whip cream, the spray-can variety. About 150 calories.

- Add slices of strawberry to raw spinach. Drizzle with strawberry salad dressing and toss. Add a few slivered almonds if you wish and a few dried cranberries.
