How Much Caffeine is Too Much?

For healthy adults, the FDA has established a daily intake amount of 400 milligrams without experiencing negative health results.

However, some individuals are more sensitive to caffeine than others, or they may have a health condition [both hidden or known] that requires strict monitoring of daily caffeine intake.

Ill effects of excess caffeine in the daily diet include: shaking, jitters, nervousness, interruption of sleep pattern, dehydration, elevated blood pressure readings, and increased heart rate.

If you're a coffee or chocolate lover, you're sure to get your daily fill of caffeine. Coffee that is brewed from grounds contains 71 milligrams of caffeine per 6 ounces; an 8-ounce cup contains 95 mg's.

If you're an espresso lover, you'll be consuming 64 milligrams of caffeine per every 1-ounce serving of espresso.
