1. Dried apples make a delicious and quick snack that is easily transportable, whether you are camping or going off for your workday. They pack nicely in children's lunch pails, too.

2. Add a bit of chopped raw apple with the skin left on to your next healthy salad.

3. Substitute oils in cake and bread recipes with applesauce. If the recipe calls for one cup of oil, substitute with 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce. You won't miss the fatty calories and you won't lose the moistness.

Quick Apple Recipe, Low in Calories

4. Take one large apple and cut into thin slices, removing the seed, stem and core. Place into a dish that is microwave-proof safe. Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes - until the flesh is tender.

Remove and sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Add 2 Tablespoons of your favorite gourmet coffee creamer - such as French Vanilla, Creme Brulee or Italian style creamer.

5. Make a quick Apple Brown Betty on the stove top. This time you'll need to remove the peeling along with the core, seeds and stem. Cut the apple into cubes and boil in water.

Use a commercially package biscuit mix to prepare the dumplings. Drop by the teaspoon into the boiling liquid when the apples reach their tender state.

Before adding the dumplings, add about 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon to the liquid and 1/3 cup of golden raisins. After the dumplings are fully done, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract if you wish.

These can be enjoyed either hot or cold. As they cool, they will thicken up significantly.

They can also be reheated in the microwave if desired.
