Easy, Low Calorie Pot Roast Recipe

You will need the following ingredients to prepare this recipe:

1 roasting bag
1 five pound or less roast, leanest cut available
1 raw onion, any variety - peeled and quartered
1 small bag of whole raw carrots, peeled and ends removed
4 whole potatoes, peeled but left whole
salt & pepper

How to Prepare This Recipe

Prepare roasting bag as directed on package by coating with all purpose flour. Place the onions into the roasting bag, then place the roast which has been salted and peppered on top of the vegetables. Lay the whole potatoes on top of the roast.

Seal the roasting bag as directed on the package directions; poke holes in the top of the bag to vent steam. Place bag into a deep roasting pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees based on the length of time necessary to cook the size of roast that was purchased.

When done, the roast should be a golden brown color and the carrots should have a candied flavor. Use any leftover juices to prepare a skinny gravy using a mix of cornstarch and water to thicken.
