Burning Calories - How to Burn Calories

Article by Diet Bites

The fastest way to burn calories is to combine a healthy diet plan with a moderate exercise plan.

Here are a few more tips that might help.

Defining One Pound

The number one rule when it comes to achieving a thinner body is to concentrate on eating healthy meal plates while restricting calories and fat. It's an instant formula for the caloric burn.

Keep in mind that a pound equals 3,500 calories so removing 500 kcals per day equals a weight loss rate of about 1 pound per week. A 1,000 calorie reduction per day equals 2 pounds of fat loss per week. Going below 1,200-1,250 kcals per week can present health risks. Men, or individuals needing to lose a lot of weight, should not go below 1,500 kcals per day.

Why 10 Pounds Are So Hard to Lose

As we can easily see, the rate of weight loss based on reduced daily energy intake is the reason why individuals that have only a few pounds to lose is so difficult; there are very few kcals to plan with.

For example, if Brandy weighs 130 pounds and her recommended weight is 120 pounds, those ten pounds will likely come off very slowly. Simply (and perhaps brutally) put, there is not much room for trimming.

Brandy's current caloric intake is somewhere around 1,600 kcals per day based on average activity level. If she attempts to trim them by 1,000 per day, she could risk not only her good health but also her very life as the body would be unable to continue functioning efficiently with only 600 kcals of energy being input into the body.

If this situation sounds familiar, keep the faith and remain true to the plan that you have mapped out for your journey. Try ramping-up activity levels to assist but don't go ape. Let's discuss this in further detail.

Exercise Related

The dieter need not turn into an exercising Walinda to achieve a turbo calorie burn. So many times, an individual becomes excited about losing and makes the common mistake of diving too far into these tricky waters without a life vest.

On that note, take it slow - make the plan work to render positive results - in a safe manner.

If you have ever watched baby birds and their mothers amid the spring and early summer months of the year, you know how worn the new mama looks. Poor thing; she'll basically suffer for her little ones -  going without food to feed them. Her feathers may be a bit sparse; she may have a set look to her eyes as she focuses on the babies.

I've seen baby woodpeckers that were almost as large as their mother with their beaks held open wide for food.

Our point is that while activity is fabulous and necessary for optimum health, too much can have an opposite impact on the human body, leaving it worn and exhausted. Therefore, use your good sense when moving forward.

Feeling the Hunger

Burning calories sometimes means allowing your tummy to feel the feeling of hunger. Of course, you'll want to grab a healthy snack to quell the pains, but these generated signals are an indication calories are being used and that positive results on your bathroom scales will likely quickly follow.

Be certain that you aren't restricting caloric intake severely or the metabolic rate will slow to a screeching halt.

Refueling Wisely

Great low calorie fixes to quell hunger pains include: frozen veggies, frozen fruits, lean beef or turkey jerky, hot air popcorn, whole grain crackers, reduced fat yogurt, sugar-reduced fruit juices and good old water.

Keep in mind that while activity can assist in losing pounds, what we eat and what we drink is the most influencing factor. While we can consume thousands of kcals per day if we wished - we cannot burn thousands per day through activity unless we're climbing Mount Pluto in the middle of a blizzard.
