Weight Loss Motivation: Which Path Leads to Weight Loss?Getting in Touch With Your Inner Spirit for Weight Loss Success: Poem Entitled 'The Critic' The other day I received a handwritten letter from my mother. Being a few years in age, she has never taken to 'newfangled' technology such as computers. Her letter contained one-gem of a poem by an unknown author. The name of the poem is " The Critic" and here is how is goes: " A little seed lay on the ground, and soon began to sprout - Now which of all the flowers around it mused, shall I come out? The lily's face is fair and proud, but just a trifle cold - The rose I think is rather loud, and then its fashion is old - The violet is all very well, but not a flower I'd choose - Nor yet the Canterbury belle, I never cared for blues - And so it criticized each flower, this supercilious seed - Until one day it awoke one summer hour, to find itself a weed! Anon."
My mother's comment followed, " When I read this I thought of an old adage - The flower of the family, the blooming idiot. Aren't you glad we are the common-folk with a touch of class rather than those who have such high regard for themselves only, who downgrade the common man - who know more about what is going on in this world than those at the top? I am thankful for my family. You know the older family members are a source for the young to lean on in troubled times. I remember when we were young, your dad and I, needing someone to lean on to set our course forward instead of stalemate. Just a word of encouragement sometimes stirs the coals that light the flame, which awakens the mind to great things. I want to be a bearer of an eternal flame which insights others, not an old broad with a bucket of water drowning-out hope." As I read my mother's sweet letter, her words set my mind to racing. Criticism is a common fixture in today's world. Rarely do strangers pause to offer a smile, even a passing 'hello'. Yet when asked about a specific topic, they are always eager to voice their opinion. Given such, perhaps a bit more encouragement rather than opinion would go far in gaining much in today's world. This is particularly true for those trying to lose weight. Thereis advice on every street corner that the dieters passes as they trod down the Old Diet Trail in hopes of crossing the Diet Finish Line. And to compliment the tone of this article, I wanted to pause to offer you encouragement - hope and God's speed in meeting all of your weight loss goals. As someone who lived through the process, I know it's not easy. After all my years of fasting, of fad diets, of plain old dieting - I realized that once I remained true to my weight loss aspirations, that they did indeed come true. I lost over 100 pounds going on two decades ago and have maintainedmy goal weight - and you know what? YOU CAN TOO! I'm rooting for you!! Keep motivated to lose weight. If you remain motivated there is nothing that can stop your from reaching all of your weight loss goals.
